摘要: I will discuss singularly perturbed hyperbolic systems of partial differential equations. The perturbation is given in terms of a small parameter epsilon, measuring for instance a wavelength. For fixed epsilon, the initial-value problem is well-posed in Sobolev spaces. We consider perturbations that are singular in epsilon, but order zero as differential operators, and show how such perturbations may create instabilities in short time. This is joint work with Lu Yong (Nanjing  University) and Eric Dumas (Universite de Grenoble).
